Lakewood Village has two elementary schools. Lakewood School serves units 1 and 3 on the west side of Lawrence Expressway, and Fairwood School serves units 2 and 4 on the east side.

Lakewood Village children typically attend Columbia Middle School on Morse Avenue between Ferndale and Glendale, and Fremont High School on Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road at Fremont Avenue.

Mission College is a community college that offers certificate programs and Associate degrees within a mile of Lakewood Village. Cogswell Polytechnic College in Sunnyvale offers Associate and Bachelors degrees within two miles, and across the street from Cogswell is the University of California Santa Cruz Extension which offers continuing education courses and certificate programs. A few more miles away in Santa Clara, the University of Phoenix offers Bachelors and Masters degrees for working adults, and the Santa Clara University offers undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.
