The annual Holiday Lighting Contest in Lakewood Village was first held in 1958, and the tradition continues today. Each year, a group of judges that have been selected by the LVNA Board tour Lakewood Village one evening and do their best to honor the best  lighting displays in the neighborhood. Rules change somewhat from year to year, but typically there is a winner selected from each of the neighborhood’s four units. Sometimes additional winning categories are awarded as well. Prizes and honors are usually bestowed at the January general meeting.

As a result of this contest, Lakewood Village has more holiday lights than most neighborhoods anywhere in the Bay Area. It has been recognized in Holiday Lights! Brilliant Displays to Inspire Your Christmas Celebration as one of only four places in the Bay Area to see if you are looking for holiday lights
