New OmniGo IZL and file transfer shareware is now available from
Feras Information Technologies!
The shareware version of the OmniGo IZL interpreter is now available
for public download. Similar to the Zoomer and GEOS desktop versions
of the language environment, the shareware package contains sample IZL
application programs (in both their binary tokenized and source form) and
the shareware version of the interpreter itself, which is capable of
executing IZL binary token files (*.IZT). This version is specifically
tailored to the user interface of the new HP palmtop, but is compatible
with IZL 2.0 for the Zoomer and the GEOS desktop, and can therefore execute
IZT token files that run on those platforms.
The developer's version of the IZL interpreter is available for purchase,
and allows anyone to create programs for all of the commercially available
GEOS platforms (OmniGo, Zoomer, and GEOS) desktop. The developer's package
is capable of directly executing IZL source files (*.IZL) or creating the
binary token files (*.IZT) that can be run by the shareware version of the
interpreter.
Also included in the shareware package is a DOS command line oriented
simple file transfer utility, OmniCom. OmniCom provides commands to upload
and download files to and from the OmniGo, as well as perform simple file
operations on the OmniGo RAM disks. With OmniCom and a serial transfer
cable, an OmniGo owner can use a DOS computer to view directories and
manipulate files on the B: (internal) and C: (PC card) of his or her
OmniGo, as well as backup important data files to the PC.
The shareware is contained in a self-extracting ZIP file, IZL_OGSH.EXE,
which will shortly be available in the following publically accessible
sites:
GEOWORKS forum of America Online (keyword GEOWORKS)
HPHAND and PALMB forums of Compuserve.

If anyone knows of any other forums or public FTP sites that are appropriate
for the shareware feel free to put it there as well.
The developer's version of the IZL interpreter is available for the purchase
price of $56 + $3 (shipping/handling).
