Re: SRAM vs. FLASH RAM

My understanding is flash ram in non-volitile, SRAM is volitale but
backed up by battery. Flash has a limited read-write capacity (but it is
fairly high). Flash draws a higher amount of juice from the machine
during read-writes. Flash is a little slower. If allowed by the
machine, either can be used as memory (not sure about the Zoomer) or
storage. This is my understanding from being on this list for about a
year. I'm afraid I'm leaving the list soon, as I have just sold my
Zoomer and bought a Newton MP 110 (used). I'm really happy with the MP 110.

BTW- a messge for CASIO is anyone is reading. If you had supported the
Zoomer with software and came out with a faster machine in a reasonable
time period, I would have bought another of your Zoomer like products.
However, with little software (in compairision to the Newton) and no new
machine in the near future...well you get the picture. The sad part of
this is since I'm happy with the Newton, they have lots of available
software, and they have shown that they make periodic improvements
(sometimes even upgradable) - I'll probabley never switch to another
platform. A lost customer is may times lost forever. The Zoomer was a
good pitch for its time, but you failed to follow through. Also, what do
you think my impression is about CASIO committment in general? Will this
influence my decision to by other CASIO products? If you are going to
"test the concept," I wouldn't put your brand name on it. Just hope
Apple can stay in business. :)

The spell checker is on the fritz on my server - no joke.
