I have surfed the net for everything I can get ahold of on this topic, so
I don't remember where sepcific things came from, but I believe I got the
ZDOS and ZCOMM stuff from ftp.biostat.washington.edu. If not there, try
130.219.44.141 (anonymous FTP, again).

I still haven't gotten ZDOS and ZCOMM to work right for me. For
reference, I have the proper cable... it is the null-modem Zoomer cable
(25-3101 from Radio Shack), and it has a 9-pin DB on the "PC" end instead
of the troublesome 25-pin connectors which we still seem to find all the
time even though very few computers use them any longer.

Anyway, what I did find out (from the newsgroups and this mailing list)
was that GEOWORKS ENSEMBLE has an upgrade patch (to ver 2.01) for version
2.0 available, which provides for doing the remote connection to the
Zoomer and a bunch of other things (non Zoomer-related things). So, I
got the patch files (4 of them, each 500+K in size, from 130.219.44.141)
and I installed them in my existing GEOWORKS 2.0 installation.

All I can say is, it works like a charm! Now I have the full
drag-and-drop functionality to the Zoomer when it is connected. It's
like a remote NFS file system for you UNIX-types out there! Very nice!

If you don't have GEOWORKS on your main machine, then I guess you'll have
to play with ZDOS and ZCOMM. I'll play with them some more and let you
know if I learn anything else... anyone else please do the same and let
us know! I wish they had better documentation. I would be willing to
register them and send money if I could make them work!
