Z-7000 TECH TIPS

ADDRESS BOOK 
Q. How many address book files can I create?
A. Your only limitation is available memory that you have on your unit.

Q. Is there a limit as to how many characters per entry?
A. There is a 32k limit per Address Book entry. 

AMERICA ONLINE
Q. What area will I have access to with the Z-7000?
A. You will have access to; Z-7000 product support, E-mail, Travel, News,
Stocks and Online support.

Q. If I have a current America Online account will there be any    additional
charges?     
A. No, there will be no new charges.

Q. How can AOL disks be obtained for home use if all I have is     the
Z-7000?
A. By calling 800-827-6364 and request that the disks be sent to    you.  

APPLICATIONS
Q. Is there any type of word processor?
A. The note book has a very basic word processor, called note    taker.

Q. Is there any type of terminal emulation?
A. There is no terminal emulation yet, it is a possibility for     the
future.

Q. What other programs will be available for the Z-7000?
A. There will be a host of other programs available. Check in News    and
Info here in the Product Support forum. 

DATE BOOK
Q. Can more than one alarm be set for the same time?
A. Yes, you can set more than one alarm for the same time. 

Q. How many birthdays, anniversaries, appointments, etc. can be     set?
A. Limited only by the memory and the calendar, which goes up to    the year
2050. 

Q. Can the duration of the alarm sound be changed?
A. No, this cannot be adjusted.

Q. Can I create repeating to-do's with out re-entering them     manually? 
A. You can not have repeating to-do's. You can however have    repeating
events.  

DICTIONARY/LANGUAGE TRANSLATOR
Q. Is there a spell checker built into each mode or just in the    dictionary
mode?
A. The only spell checker is in the dictionary mode.

Q. What are the "Flash" and "Jumble" functions on the dictionary?
A. "Flash" is a flash card type of brain game that tests your    knowledge of
word definitions. "Jumble" is another game helper    that will create words
from within a single word that you     input. 

GAMES
Q. Will there be other games (cards) available for the Z-7000?
A. Yes, there will be future games available for the Z-7000.

HANDWRITING RECOGNITION
Q. Will the Z-7000 translate cursive ink input?
A. No, the Z-7000 will not translate cursive ink into text, only    print. 

Q. Can cursive input be stored as ink?
A. Yes, you can store cursive as ink.

Q. Can ink be stored as text and then later be converted back into    ink?
A. Yes, ink can be stored as ink and then later converted to text    and then
again back to text. 

Q. Will the Z-7000 require any type of training for character    recognition?
    
A. No training is necessary for character recognition. However, the    user
will quickly learn ways to make the recognition more    accurate.

Q. How can the speed and accuracy be improved?
A. A few tips are to; re-read chapter 2, try not to write too    slowly,
leave sufficient space between characters, write large    words in sections
or on two lines.    

LINKS
Q. How does the Z-7000 connect to a PC?
A. There will be connectivity packages available from Palm    Computing and
Intellilink that will allow transfer of data    between Z-7000 and a PC.

MEMORY
Q. How can the memory be expanded?
A. You can expand your memory with RAM PCMCIA cards.

Q. Will there be ROM upgrades?
A. In the future there may be, but the user will not be able to    do this.
You will have to send the unit into a Service Center.    We don't anticipate
the need for such an upgrade any time soon.

Q. How do I check the available RAM on my unit?
A. You can go to the File Manager and below the folder in the upper    left
hand corner it will show your total free RAM for the unit.    You can tap
once on a file or mode and that will show how much    RAM is used on that
specific record or file.

MISCELLANEOUS
Q. Which uses more of the systems' memory, ink or text storage?
A. Ink storage can use up to 10 times more memory than storing data as text.
