AC adaptor again

Thanks for the feedback about the inquiry of an AC adaptor. I just purchased the
AC adaptor and am wondering why I can not use the AC adaptor alone, without
installation of 3 pieces of AA batteries. Is something wrong with my unit? Or
Was it designed so? I just want to make sure my Zoomer is powered by the AC
adaptor while it is plugged in. Again I appreciate any response.
