yes, I've one. :)
It's a real nice kind of toy, still much too expensive. Much faster than any
other Geos PDA device.
Because it's based in GEOS 3.0 system, I don't know much about software
compatibility. Once I tested it and transfered a small PC/Geos 2.01 desktop
application to the Nokia device. The RAM space was reduced correctly, but the
app can't be seen nor used. I've to reset the RAM memory to remove the app
and get the memory back.
Yes, it's a real nice device and it has some nice features & advantages. But
there are some big (IMO) problems:
- still no additional 3rd party software, althought they promised to have
some ...
- except one additional FTP Client application from CCC.fi --- price $175 !
;-))
- no choice to have different internet providers, you can have only ONE
configuration!
- no choice to use more than one document nor to switch between docs, using
the phone book application
- no database application, althought the HP Database engine is present
- no combation of E-Mail and WWW possible! If you want to send or upload
e-mails, you have to login using the e-mail client. If you want to surf in
the WWW, you've to logout and login again using the Web Browser.
(note: in europe each call is at least one phone charge unit, means each call
costs additional money!)
If you've more questions about the Nokia 9000, please contact me! :)
