<< I heard when the Zoomer came out that there was a gobal positioning
system avalable for the Zoomer... is this true?
and is it still avalable? >>
I saw an advertisement in Flying magazine about a year ago for a package GPS
pc card with antenna and a Zoomer included for about a thousand US dollars.
I called for info, and they sent me a brochure but could not give me
ordering info since they were still unavailable from their warehouse. This
was around the same time that Radio Shack was clearing out their last stocks
of Zoomers, so I figured they were having trouble finding enough Zoomers to
make the package worth selling. Their marketing people got ahead of the ball
I guess. When I called back a month or so later, I was told the package had
been dropped completely.
The ad also said the Zoomer would give you internet access and PDA functions
as well as full GPS functionality. Sounded like the GPS marketing companies
had read AST, Casio, and Tandy's sales and product development pitches too
often. ;-)
Too bad it never made it. They may have had problems with the Zoomer's PC
slot power restrictions too.
