IMHO, 4Megs of RAM is very little to run windows, and running Norton
Desktop for Windows (if that is what you meant when you wrote "Norton
Utilities") is another memory hog.

1. I would suggest you do not load run windows at boot time, and do not exit
from windows (which runs a shell) but instead run ZDOS.COM from the DOS prompt.
2. I assume that your friend has properly installed
his internal modem, and has no conflict with interrupts, etc.
3. on the PC type ZDOS/? and then ZDOS/help
4. on the Zoomer, follow *exactly* the steps just obtained on the PC
5. in my particular case, my serial port is com2, and at the prompt, I thus
type c:\ZDOS /p:2 /b:19200

when my Zoomer runs slow, I do a *soft* reboot (that is I press the reset
button on the back, near the batteries, but NOT the A and B buttons at the
same time, which would create a hard reset, and erase everything!)
In any case, before doing a reset --either hard or soft-- I back up my
important stuff in my 2 MB SRAM PCMCIA card (drive c:)

Also (and not related to the above), Graffiti locked up on me once, and I
erased and simply re-loaded it. No problem since then.
