It sounds as if the memory is not being seen as "formatted" or zero'd out.
(as if the machine is coming up from a hard reset). Do you have a PCMCIA
(PC-Card) SRAM or FlashRAM card installed? Does the message acoour without
the card installed?

Just taking a couple shots in the dark here...
