The other side of Zoomer Battery Life

All these tales of long battery life had me a little confused, since I've had
my Zoomer for less than two months and om an my third set of batteries. Then,
a couple of days ago, I was with my girlfriend at a Radio Shack where we bought
her a Zoomer. The guy went to get the AC Adapter, and it turns out to be a
different adapter from the one I got (which, btw, had been picked by the
salesman at the RS where I got *my* Zoomer)! Mine puts out about 1/2 the
milliamps needed. Needless to say, I immediately ordered the right one. We'll
see if that solves my problem.

Anyone know why the wrong adapter would cause such a drain on the batteries?
