I noticed that there is a quick way to switch to different documents
in the AddressBook and NoteBook. I don't recall reading this in the manual.
If you tap the phrase "Address Book" or "Note Book" at the top of the
page in the "index" view, you'll bring up the Open dialog with all your
other corresponding documents in a scrolling list. Just tap the document
and tap "Open" to switch. You'll then discover that the phrase at the top
of the window is not the name of the application, but the name of the currently
open document.
This is faster than bringing up the menu, and choosing File->Open.

PS I just noticed that this is documented, but onnly a single note in the
sections on the NoteBook and AddressBook apps.
