oops....I stand corrected!  ltoa() or itoa()...etc... are not ANSI.  
I'm usually more careful about assuming something is ANSI, since I
worked on making a company's C compiler ANSI compliant (I should know
better).  Oh well no one is perfect!!  And no I will not say that 
GEOS should support it since most compilers do, I'm all for keeping
things to a minimum.
