Shipment of PalmConnect: We released more than almost two thousand
shrink-wrapped boxes (software and cable) for shipping 11/5, and sent a slew
of them off to Casio and Tandy. PalmConnect orders made directly from Palm
are shipping by 11/15.

Regarding the Zoomer serial connectors: We believe they won't be available
for purchase for some time.

The following are the pinouts at the Zoomer end.

    ZOOMER SERIAL PORT
    1 Ground
    2 Receive
    3 Transmit
    4 Data Terminal Ready
    5 Frame Ground (no connection)
    6 Data Set Ready
    7 Request to Send
    8 Clear To Send
    9 Ring Indicator (CI)
   10 Carrier Detect

The actual pinouts at the modem & PC aren't published. I'll try to include
them in our up-coming forum on AOL. Pin switching occurs at both the Zoomer
to DB-9 cable and in the DB-9 to DB-25 adapter on our cable. The
PalmConnect cable is not licensed for use with a modem.

Regarding the discussions on using the IR port on PDA's to communicate with
external devices: Take a look at the recommended range for data transfer.
This hardware is intentionally power-thrifty to prolong battery life. Good
ideas, though.
