Telecourse: Introduction to Pen Computing

8 am - 2pm PST

Pen Computing is a new industry segment providing hardware, software, and
communications services to let people access computing power in a natural
and highly mobile way. Pen computing opens a large, untapped market: people
whose information needs aren't well satisfied with conventional, cryptic,
bulky desktop and laptop computers.

Pen computing lets you make computer power more accessible, improving the
speed and accuracy of data flow in your organization. Users can access
corporate data even when they're away from the office, using newly available
wireless data communications services that fit naturally into the pen
computing environment. Proper choice of hardware, operating system,
application development environment, and communications is essential for
early, good results from pilot projects.

This course will provide you with the background needed to plan for a
successful pilot project using pen computing. This program will explain the
fundamentals of pen computing, showing what works, what doesn't, and why.

Benefits:

This course will allow you to:

-- Compare pen platforms and software

-- Choose communications and applications development options

-- Understand what factors lead to success or failure in pilot pen computing
   projects

-- Choose appropriate pen computing solutions for pilot projects in your
   organization
