Good thought- I have tried fresh alkalines also. I don't think it's a
voltage problem. Though- who knows. Since I don't know exactly what
the upgrade consists of any more discussion would be speculation.
(though speculation is welcome) Perhaps it's a bus speed issue? The
lithium batteries are 1.5v. (just checked)
