I've had the same problem with my Omnigo: Lithium batteries were drained
in a little over two weeks; alkaline batteries had a lifespan of 1 1/2 weeks. It
took some time before I realised that my Omnigo really did malfunction: I
thought it was HP lying about battery life in their user's manual! :-)
Well I called HP Netherlands (which is where I live) and asked them what
they were prepared to do about my power hungry Omnigo. It turned out that
they had delegated support to a third party. I called the third party (Portasoft,
neat name). At first, they wanted to "repair" my Omnigo, which would take a
minimum of two weeks. I declined, as I wanted my old Omnigo exchanged for
a new one with less greedy feeding habits. As Portasoft pointed out: they didn't
want to pay for stock because of malfunctions in HP products: they didn't have
an Omnigo lying around. I insisted on a new Omnigo however and
mysteriously there turned out to be an Omnigo left, but I had to wait a week
for it. And had to send them my old Omnigo, which I did, by registered mail
(I'm no fool). This was five days ago, so I'm still waiting and hoping that
nothing will go wrong: it turns out that the Omnigo is pretty successful at its
job: I'm missing it already and my appointments are in a mess!
