quit apps before soft reboot

Dear all,

I have the OG 100. Here's some hint I've worked out the hard way
recently. This is not covered in the manual.

As you use the machine for some weeks, the free memory drops to really
low. (You can see this in the Transfer application.)
This is due to the state files, that can chew up more than 100K!

These are work files that hold info about where you've been in an
application, what options were in effect etc. They are wiped when you do
a soft reboot (SHIFT-ON-NEXT), giving you back some space.
For this reason, it is a good idea to do a soft reboot, say weekly.

BUT, make sure that you quit all applications before doing it !
I messed up my Appointment book and a spreadsheet by leaving them open
during a 'scheduled' soft reboot.
Luckily, I had backups on the PC to fall back on.

Hope this saves trouble for some.
