If you go to the HOMESAT archives (reachable via the listserver at
vm1.nodak.edu and grab the digests from around January 20 you will find
about 1,000 articles (and no, this isn't an exaggeration), dealing with
this very topic.

Suffice to say that due to some kind of geomagnetic disturbance, Anik E2
spun out of control. The backup systems failed also. Engineers are
currently attempting to recover the satellite by using the station-keeping
fuel to stabilize it.

Anik E1 also spun out of control for a few hours, but the backup systems
were able to recover the situation.

Services formerly on Anik E2 can now mostly be found on Anik E1 and
Spacenet 4.
