hello xpress-list!

Well, xpress-list is now managed using listserv and there are a bunch of
new subscribers too, and yet there's not been any traffic in quite a while.
So I thought I'd try to stir up some discussion...

Has anyone made any improvements on the netnews gateway (code available through
the xpress-list archives)? I use this software here at home and it works
pretty well, but when I don't redirect stdin/stderr to /dev/null, I notice
that a lot of data gets tossed out along the way. I have no time to dig
into it, but I'm wondering if there's a bug or the datastream changed since
the software was written or ???.

If someone has bug fixes, improvements, or wholly new code, please contact
me directly and I'll make it available through the archive server (which
works now!).

Second question: is anyone doing anything interesting with the stock feed?
I played around with formatting the data for use with gnuplot a while back,
but haven't really done anything with it since. What I was trying to do
(and was more or less successful) was to be able to do two plots for a given
stock: the current day's quotes, and a history of daily closing quotes.
