I suspect I may be able to answer this question myself, but I thought
I'd throw it out there anyway.
We have a SPARC5 with 32 mbytes of RAM, 110 mhz cpu speed, and I
think about 32 mbytes of swap space. The application that I am
working on is about 12 mbytes on approximately 50 cards. Each card
will have audio and animation (which we hope to synchronize). The
graphics are in there now and we are currently integrating the audio.
My colleage tells me that the performance on the SPARC 5 under these
circumstances isn't good enough. My question is, should this system
be able to handle this type of application? If not, do you have any
suggestions for making the system run better? Increasing swap space,
etc.
Thank you.
