A MetaCard Linux ELF executable now available from
ftp.metacard.com/MetaCard and ftp.uu.net/vendor/MetaCard and from the
MetaCard WWW site http://www.metacard.com. The new engine is called
Linux.gz, the corresponding video clip player is xanim.Linux.gz. The
old a.out format executables are available as Linuxaout.gz and
xanim.Linuxaout.gz.

This engine was built on a Linux 1.2.13 system, and is the same as the
other 2.0.1 executables. While we haven't found or heard of any
problems running the a.out format executables on ELF-based Linux
systems, they do force loading of duplicate C and X11 dynamic
libraries which increases memory usage and slows load-time somewhat.

In the future, we will only build ELF format binaries for Linux, so if
you're using an old version of Linux, now would be a good time to
start making plans to upgrade.
