It starts from the current card. At the first field if there was no
previously found text, or from that position if there was.

There are several conditions that cause the previous find to be
cleared. I must admit, however, that I'm sure I don't know what all
of them are. The best way around this is is probably to "find empty"
which clears the previous find, forcing the next find to start at the
first field of the card.
