Yes. Not infrequently one needs to select multiple items that are not
contiguous.

Yes. Very often I would like to select a whole section byjust clicking
the start and end points.

Don't really care. Follow the Motif guidelines so far as possible.
Contiguous/non-contiguous is more correct.

OK, if you can't follow Motif for technical reasons, at least use control
shift for contiguous selection and stay with shift-click for multiple
non-contiguous selection.
