To make this Lakewood Village history project possible, historical materials are needed. If you’re a longtime resident, or perhaps a previous resident has
bequeathed historical materials to you, you can help!
In particular, if you know from experience or know of someone else who might know about the following things, please contact the LVNA Webmaster:
What happened to the LVRA? When did it disband, and why?
What ever happened to the Lakewood Village Aquatic Club / Lakewood Village Country Club?
All sorts of historical materials would be useful to this project. Among the items that are currently needed are:
- Photographs of the Lakewood Village and surrounding areas from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s.
- Photographs of neighborhood events, such as picnics or holiday parades, from the 50s through present day.
- Newspaper articles about Lakewood Village from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
- Links to online news stories about Lakewood Village.
- Sales brochures or other materials about the original neighborhood development.
- Old issues of the LVRA Villager:
- Volume 1, Number 1 from 1958
- July 1958
- all issues from 1961
- June 1963 (I am missing pages)
- January 1966 (I am missing pages)
- March and May 1967 (I am missing pages)
- all issues from 1968 except April, October, and November.
- all issues from 1969 except September
- March 1971
- any issues after June 1971, if any were published
- Old issues of the LVNA Villager:
- all issues before 1992, if any were published
- January through April 1992
- August 1993
- May and November 1994
- all issues 1995 except January and July
- January, and May through December 1996
- all issues from 1997 through 2000 except April 1997 and January 1998
- Other materials from the Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association, or the Lakewood Village Resident’s Association as it was previously known. Especially useful would be
LVNA/LVRA meeting minutes and correspondence from April 1966 to the present.
- Any kind of information that you might have about the neighborhood prior to 1958 would be especially appreciated. The LVRA was established in 1958, and that is when most of
the documented materials begin.
Contributing these materials is a great way to clear out some storage space in your home or garage. Or, you can just lend the materials for copying (paper
items, photographs, slides, and negatives, can all be copied), and then the originals will be returned to you.
If you have any of these materials, or anything else you think might be useful, please contact the LVNA Webmaster.
