In October, 2001, the Santa Clara Valley chapter of the American Institute of Architects held their “Visions of the Valley” 2001 Architecture Awards program. Among the entrants was a Lakewood Village home, the Smithson Residence, which was entered into the design competition by its architect, D. Guy Ayers.

The Smithson Residence was one of only two single-family residences that were given awards (and the other one was a design which had not been constructed yet). The other award winners were large commercial and

civic buildings.

The house is on Burntwood Court and Sandia Avenue. Here is a gallery of the photos and drawings that were submitted to the architectural design contest.
