Every so often I like to spend a Saturday afternoon browsing through
pawn shops and second hand shops. I see a lot of computers matching
that description with prices ranging from $20 to about $300. And price
doesn't reflect condition at all. I've bought a few computers from
pawn shops over the years, picking them carefully, and so far I've
never had a lemon.
However, they if you do get a bad one, you're just out of luck. They
don't give guarantees. You can plug them in and try them out though.
If you try this, it's a good idea to bring along a boot disk. Both
sizes.
