Infra-red transmitter

I know that Radio Shack never actually made the Infra-red
receiver/transmitter that would talk to the Zoomer. I was wondering if anyone
else ever made one. If so who and where can I contact them. Or, if there is
anyone particularly clever, do they know the protocols of the data stream,
and the particulars of the hardware so that someone like an electrical
engineer or electronic technician could build one. If someone has all the
data that's required, I would build a second one for them for the
information.
