One more important fact about Flash cards is that when writing, they
use huge amounts of power. They use about as much as an sram card when
reading and none at all when not being accessed. The sram card uses its
battery when the computer is turned off.
The result of this is that if you do a lot of writing, you're gonna cut
your battery life a lot. Also when your batteries get down to the last
1/4 or 1/5 or 1/6 of their life, you can get a low battery indication
from doing a write. I've been told that the card won't corrupt a sector
when this happens.
