fixing a broken hinge on Zoomer cover

Has anyone else had this problem? The cover on my Zoomer has occasionally
come off ever since it was new, and the frequency of this occurance increased to
the point where it was coming apart more often then not when I opened the cover.
Basically, the weak point is the two little nubs on the cover which snap into
the sides of the hinge. They tend to wear with use I suppose, but they really
wear off when you have to keep snapping it back together.
So I finally got around to fixing it. I did so by cutting those little nubs off
with an x-acto blade, _carefully_ drilling holes where they were, and drilling
out the holes where the nubs used to snap onto the hinge. Then I took a large
paper clip, straightened it out, and inserted it as a new hinge pin. If anyone
is interested in details, let me know.
