Does the Preference application crash every time you try to run it, and
sometime even GeoManager crashes (especially if you have just upgraded to DOS
ver. 7.0 or Windows '95)?
On the occasion that you've done everything thing you think you can to keep
the Preference application from crashing;
- You've run SETVER
- You've reset GEOS
- You've defragmented your hard-drive
- Your've run ScanDisk or another disk utility
and everything seems to be fine...
There is a file that GEOS builds to keep track of the applets and drivers
that are installed. This file is located as follows;
\privdata\pref\geos_dev.000 (GEOS device drivers)
This file is rebuilt by the operating system when it has been deleted. If you
feel that you are at wits end and you need to get preference back on it's
feet, drop to DOS and delete the above file. Go back into GEOS, run
preference (which will take a bit longer) and things should be OK..
