What makes the handwrting recognition *great* on the Zoomer is not the
original program that comes with the Zoomer, but a specialized program
called "Graffiti". Graffiti works beautifully on my Zoomer, but I
believe that it is now also available for the Newton (at least I think I saw
recently a 2MB SRAM card for the Newton with Graffiti bundled in. I did
not pay much attention since I do not own a Newton!)
If you want to learn more about the Zoomer (which is now available for
$250) versus the Newton ($700) you may want to add your name to the
zoomer-list (To that effect, send a msg to <majordomo@best.com> and in the
body of the msg, write <subscribe zoomer-list you@your.domain>)
Hope this helps
Andre

To any one out there with a Tandy/Casio Zoomer:
Is it as good or better than the Apple Newton? I want to buy one
but I'm still unconvinced if it delivers at handwriting recognition.
Thanks in advance,
Diego
