I have no experience with SRAM I do however use a Flash RAM which is just
fine for me
As far as how much you need depends on your needs( same as with a PC)

No matter what to communicate with a PCMCIA card from tthe Z-700 you need to
use the same operating platform so you'll need Palm Connect. As far as price
for each it depends on where you buy.

This is a matter of the same but different. There are differences in some
items but the accessories are interchangable.
