That's not really a validation. You might have some corrupted records. Or
your file might not have been placed in a spot where the memory was corrupt.

I would validate it by copying some files to it tht would pretty much fill
it up, then copying those files back off to the pc but not back to their
original directories. Then I would use FC to compare them. Since there's
a question about the quality of the memory, I would then repeat that a
number of times.

If it worked ok then I would probably use it for a while with non-critical
data or well backed up data until I got real confidence in it. That would
be slow in coming.

But, if you decide to do this, you'll need a really long song to whistle.
