I got GeoCalc to run on the Zoomer, and it works great. It's a bit slow,
but it's pretty cool to generate graphs from data. I also gave Graffiti,
and it seems to be compatible. One minor hitch is that when it starts up,
the screen is filled with all sorts of gadgetry. You will have to be sure
that your GEOS.INI allows for user-level changes and go in and customize the
tool bars, etc. to give you more cells on the screen. As it comes up
normally, there are around 2 to 3 or so columns and around 8 to 10 rows.
This can be increased significantly by hiding a lot of the tools. I think
the only other problem I had was that I don't think it saves the
configuration if you close it down. If you iconize it, it stays fine, but
if you close it down and re-open it, you have to go back in and hide the
tools again. (I'm pretty sure about this, as I don't have my Zoomer with me
right now.)
To get it to work, you must copy all required libraries to the Zoomer. This
can be done by looking at the application (GeoCalc) with a file lister and
loog for the names of the required apps. One hitch is that all the
libraries are not listed in the app. One of the libraries (I forgot which)
calls one or more OTHER libraries, so tracking them all down is sometimes a
chore. If you want, I can provide a list of those libraries that were
required. As I recall, the libraries and GeoCalc total somewhere around
400k so you WILL need a RAM card. I have a 1mb RAM card and works great.
One REALLY IMPORTANT note: You must use the v2.0, NOT v2.01. For some
reason, they are incompatible with the Zoomer version. This may be a
problem for those who purchase Ensemble new. I don't know if the new
version is sold as a new version or as the old version with the patch disks
included.
Otherwise, it works and it works well. I only wish Zoomer had a 286 or
better CPU because it would COOK if it did! I could see how the PT-9000
would be better suited for this.
