I purchased/downloaded the Compuserve client for the Zoomer yesterday,
installed it, gasped at the hit on my sram card's memory, and test drove it
for about 10 minutes, and then deleted it off my card. It gives you
access to news, stock reports, weather, and mail, and that is it. I went
to try out the email function, and the address book is fixed to the Zoomer's
default address book.
I was not at all impressed with it, and in my mind I was really comparing
it to the AOL client that comes with the Z.
There is one redeeming feature, however. Compuserve is not limited to the
continental United States, and the software for the Z comes complete with
scripts for using it overseas. when you tap the ? icon, it responds with
a message to call the 1-800 help line, and gives you the number for within
and outside of the continental United States, from which in turn you can
ask for local access numbers.
To me, the bottom line is, if I ever travel abroad, particularly europe,
I'll install it, otherwise, the AOL has so much more to offer, if I didn't
have access to my PC.
