When I get a low battery warning I swap my alkalines with a freshly
recharged set. This works great (the zoomer doesn't seem to drain
the alkalines particalarly low before giving its warning). After a
few cycles, an alkaline will occasionally fail to recharge. But by
reusing it several times I feel like I've done my environmental duty.
And the cost can't be beat!
