Pocket Modems and Terminal Emulation

I'm new to this list, so please excuse me if these questions have been dealt
with before; I haven't seen them discussed in the archives or in the faq.

I understand that the only pcmcia modem that will work with the zoomer is
limited to 2400 bps, so I intend to skip it and use a pocket modem. I have
no experience of pocket modems, so I'm curious:

What modems do people here use with their zoomers?

How well do they work?

Is battery life (zoomer or modem) an issue?

On a related topic:

What software do folks here use for zoomer comms?

I read that Zcomm-lite is pretty dodgy (no vt100, no zmodem); is zcomm-pro
really dead in the water?

What about GeoComm?

Will any of the DOS terminal emulators work on the zoomer?

Will GEOS 2.01 help?

Is anyone working on any other zoomer terminal emulation product?

Again, apologies if these questions have been dealt with before - I only
just bought a zoomer, and I'm very excited about it, but I'd really love
to use it to access the net. Any help greatly appreciated.

Peter A. Merel.
