Hi,
Based on my discussions with the product manager at Casio for the Zoomer, the
Zoomer has a NEC V-20 compatible cpu. This cpu is an 8088 with some
instruction extentions to support 8080 code without recompiling. Casio chose
an 8 bit external bus to make the system as compact as possible.

After reviewing the schematics, there is no doubt, the PCMCIA card support
is only 8 bits wide. The high byte is tied high, thus it is completely
unuseable. All access via the PCMCIA card must be 8 bit.

The PCMCIA standard supports both 8 bit and 16 bit i/o. Some cards may not
work since they expect that the PCMCIA slot will support 16 bits.

Let me know if you need more information.
