Any way to change cursor ?

Is there any way to change the cursor in notebook and address book from
a microline to something more visible, like a block or better, a blinking
block? I find the microline very hard to see and have to put in spurious
letters -- and then take them out -- to find out where I am on the screen.
Is there a better way?
