<<<Geoworks strikes me as a fairly enlightened company. The really
enlightened thing would have been to bundle desktop Ensemble with the Zoomer
(HP, for example, includes desktop versions of their PIM software with
OmniBooks).
- Yes they are, but you hvae to remember that only the Operating System
software is provided by Geoworks on the Zoomer. You can purchase a second
license from them directly 800-238-5885 and the price is much reduced. The
other software on the Zoomer is controled by their respective companies.

The Tetris issue brings in many more problems as Geoworks pays royalties for
each copy of Tetris it sells for the DeskTop Ensemble. They are restricted by
direct agreement to NOT sell Tetris on the ZOOMER, as Game-Boy has sole
rights to the hand-held use of that game.

I'm not trying to bash anyone, just trying to remind/educate everyone one
that software is licensed not bought and even though you pay "X" numbers of
dollars for the hardware software costs are a part of the "utility" of a
computer. I didn't think twice of paying big bucks for CorelDraw for my
"TradeShow" great buy computer, but it's part of what I did to do my job...
As handhelds come down in price, the paradymn of software always being
cheaper than the total cost of my hardware will shift. And, we will look at
the total utility of the 'package' over the individual costs.

- As for Geowork's XIP functionality, my educated guess is that you will have
to buy a new Zoomer to gain the advantage. Since the Kernel is in ROM, it
isn't and easy transplant. Also, I don't have access to their marketing
thoughts for 2.1.. But, there are new Trips and Tricks being built by user's
to swap out to a RAM card to expand your capabilities where needed.
