zdos & transferring files

zdos works great for transferring files from PC to zoomer. Just
get one of the shack's zoomer to modem cables, put a null modem
adapter on the end, and plug it into com1 on the PC. (For some
reason com2 doesn't work.) Run zdos, and put the zoomer into
"File Link" mode. (Or maybe it's "File Transfer", but I think
it's file link.) It should just work. (Don't forget to set your
zoomer prefs).
Then your pc will go into sort of an ftp type thing where you
can send and receive files or change to directories.
It's not to hard to set up, and zdos is freeware. It's available
on ftp.biostat.washington.edu.
