Re: modem

Radio Shack currently has a PCMCIA modem (2400 baud) that works with the
Zoomer, I'm not sure of the brand. It's a bit too expensive at this time.
(> $200 for 2400 baud) Casio says that if the PCMCIA card draws less than
50Ma, it should work. I've heard some dispute over that fact.

Also - be aware that 9600 bps is the maximum (currently) that the PCMCIA slot
feeds the modem.

I do have the CompuServe for the Zoomer, and it's very well done. You'll
probably need a memory card (1 Meg) to store and use the software, and be
able to maintain your other software. I bought a Newton 1M card for $59.00
and it works great.

So - if you have CompuServe software on a PCMCIA card, you cannot use a
PCMCIA Modem. I've been using a ZOOM portable, going out through the serial
port @ 9600 baud, and find it very satisfactory.
