An alternative America Online client program is available for the Zoomer.

It's been on AOL for a while, judging from the date on the README file, but now
it's also available at ftp://ftp.biostat.washington.edu/pub/zoomer/bullet.zip.
Thanks to Domingo Chang for forwarding it to me, and to Dave Fetrow for putting
it up on his ftp site.

It allows access to all of AOL's services and can use 9600 baud modems.
There are some caveats about it, so read the README file:

Bullet AOL
March 13, 1995

Here's the new version of AOL for the Zoomer. Originally it was created
for the Sharp Bullet PT-9000. All of AOL is now available, including
FTP, Newsgroups, PDA Forum, and any other keyword! It also supports 9600
baud access!

The window sizes on this new version of AOL do not match those on the Zoomer.
You may need to pull the windows to the left or right in order to see all of
the information contained in them. This is done by stroking the window name
to the left or the right. This version will not have updated icons! This
saves space that would be lost for new icons, so watch for different icons
for the standard options. It may not work from B: with a PCMCIA modem.
It does work on C: with an external modem. The modem is Com2:

This version can only be installed with Zdos or ZLink and Pccom.
You can not use the file linking under Geoworks due to the difference
between the dos and the Geos file names. The DOS file names must
be as below:

copy pcao.geo to the \geoworks\world directory.
create the \geoworks\userdata\aol directory.
copy aoldb.vm to the \geoworks\userdata\aol directory.
copy pcaovpic.vm to the \geoworks\userdata\aol directory.

Both versions of AOL use the same setup files and can access the address book.

All support shall be provided from the PDA Forum. Please feel free to post
questions regarding Bullet AOL there.
