Nope it won't work. The PalmConnect cable assumes you are connecting to
another PC. To connect to a modem you'll need a "null modem adaptor".

Just another annoyance from the RS-232 "standard".

(A bit of history: RS-232 was a scheme to connect a specific terminal
to a specific modem. They never expected it to be used the way it came
to be used and this has led to a great many little surprises down the
years as speeds, connectors and usage changes).
