Unfortunately, I am not in a position right now (editors don't get paid too much and we're pretty much non-profit at the moment here at MTR) to purchase my own Zoomer unit. And since my loaner Zoomer has to be returned to Palm Computing next week, leaving me without the little beastie (I'm really going to miss him...) I am currently searching for a qualified writer who would like to take a stab at penning a Zoomer column for us for inclusion in each issue of MTR. We're looking for approx. 800 words per issue, and we publish issues every two months. I need someone who uses, and preferably is obsessed with <g>, the Zoomer, has Palm Connect, and likes to test shareware and commercial applications.
I will be handling the news/info side of the section and just need someone to provide "yes I use it every day, religiously, and this is why I love it" pointof view, tips, tricks, information, pointers and other essential stuff for Zoomer owners.. We'll decide on column topics as we go along, based on the kinds of products and services that emerge. That means one issue might be about using the Zoomer as a wireless mobile system while another might review the Geoworks Game Pack or talk about Dave Goodman and his mountains (by then!) of shareware applications written for the Zoomer... Once the PT-9000 arrives in Feb. I anticipate even more interest in this area, and more pages added as required (and as advertisers insist on...).
In exchange for writing this column, I can currently provide free copies of each issue published plus a small ad space that might be helpful (we have some very wealthy readers <g>) if you have a small consulting business or whatever. Eventually, as we increase our circulation and ad sales even further I hope to expand this section and also pay my writers. We have a few dedicated folks (Marty Mankins, Ken Ducey, Ed Pomerantz and Howard Oakley) who provide us with stuff on a regular basis. I'd like to add a Zoomer-based writer to this mix.
If you're interested, please reply to me via private e-mail and we can discuss your qualifications, etc, and whether or not you'd be willing to handle the work load (it's not too much, and it's fun getting your materials into the hands of other Zoomer owners)... The criteria: You MUST own a Zoomer Z-PDA and have the Palm Connect kit plus a 386SX or higher and all the necessary cables. Plus, the time to handle the 800 word demands of each issue..
Right now we publish PowerTech, our new insert that premieres in issue #2 (in the mail now to all of our VERY patient subscribers) -- this insert features 4 pages devoted specifically to Newton technologies. Zoomer deserves its place in the sun, too.....
So help a poor editor out. Without my Zoomer I'm going to be disorganized, anyhow <g> and I need someone who loves the device to give us some great tips and tricks....

Lloyd Wasser
