Yes, there is a purpose to a word processor on the Zoomer, mind-boggling
as it may seem. As it seems to me, one of the primary uses of PDA's is
front-line data entry, and in my line of work the data are words. A PDA that
allowed me to create and edit word processor documents, as well as do a
certain range of formatting when the Spirit moved me, would be far more
useful to me than one that could not. If such a product existed I would save
my desktop machine for final formatting and printing. I see nothing absurd
in this orientation.
It is a recurrent theme in this SIG that people like me are making a
mistake when we think of PDA's as computers, but my perception is that Apple,
Casio, Sharp et al. are offering products which may some day erase the
traditional boundary between computer products and consumer electronics. I,
for one, am in favor of such a move, and I believe PDA word processors would
help to accomplish it.
