It would seem to me that a little more preperation on your behalf would be in
order before you decide to slam the Zoomer product and the Geos OS. Starting
with the OS, The original PC version of Geos was released in late
1990-early'91, I forget the specifics. Anyway, the Geos OS was a radical
takeoff from the C=64 code, based on Object Oriented Programming. Now, in the
past year, the code was rebuilt and redesigned from the ground up as the
combined result of "Zoomer" project and the Ensemble 2.0 upgrade. If you want
specifics about the Ensemble product or the OS, go to the Geoworks Forum
(Keyword: Geoworks) and they will be more than happy to give you the
information you request. Also, I do not know wether it was you or Andrew who
stated that Newton and Zoomer would be the same price, but as a veteran of
the CES and Comdex, I find that hard to accept. Finally, 100 hours with
disposable batteries is a Great deal better on the consumer than having to
stop every 6-10 hours to recharge the batteries. No I don't work for any of
these companies, but I am most impressed with the admirable amount they have
done in the time alloted. Newton is a great product and do quite well, but i
doubt if it was designed for Mr. and Mrs. Travelling businessman to be
efficient users of it. Zoomer will have its place in the market.
<<off the soapbox>> : -)
