My PC modem is internal. Therefore, if I want to use the Z-PDA for e-mail I need a speical modem. someone recently mentioned a 9600 BAUD battery-operated pocket modem availble from Midwest Micro for less than $80, and I am considering it.
I see two advantages. First, if it really is pocket sized I can carry it in my jacket pocket and use it whenever I happen to be free and near a phone connection -- for instance, during a break in a business meeting. Second, while it is true that electrical plugs are often available near phone jacks, they are also often either behind desks or other furniture and/or already in use. If I borrow an office, I will not make myself popular if I unplug the normal user's PC to use the plug for my modem.
